First of course, we need a Captivate movie to include in the project. There are no restrictions when authoring the Captivate movie. The Control Pad will not interfere with your ability to utilize Captivate elements such as buttons, rollover captions, and click boxes.
The dimensions of your Captivate movie are extremely important. As we’ve noted, you must factor in the size of your Captivate movie, plus the size of any Control Pad panels you include to calculate the total dimensions of your project. This can affect the display of the project within your end-users web browser.
For example, using the large Control Pad buttons will add 50 pixels to the height. Including a Header and Footer panel will add additional space to the height. When the Menu Panel or Content panels are toggled open, additional space is required.
Create Test Movies – Find the Appropriate Size Before you’ve spent a lot of time developing content within a Captivate movie, we suggest quickly creating some test captivate movies at various sizes. For example, create a movie 800x400, 800 x 520, and 800 x 600. Test these movies within the Control Pad. Open the Control Pad using these movies in your web browser and adjust your screen resolution to the target resolution of your end-users. Open the Menu Panel and Content Panel if included. Can you see all of the content? Do you have to scroll down or to the right to see additional content?
Remove Skin, Playbar, Border We recommend removing the Captivate skin, playbar, and border from your movies for project that will use the Control Pad. This will allow for more room for content in the Control Pad panels.
