What happens if a visitor does not have the minimum required version of Flash Player?
In version 1.02, we added a feature to display an "alternate content" DIV if a visitor does not have the required version of Flash Player installed. If the user does not have the required version or above, then an “alternate content” <DIV> is displayed at the top of the content column within the web page.
Here's some additional details about the alternate content/Flash Player feature:
- You can modify the content displayed within this <DIV> as desired.
- The <DIV> can contain text and/or images and use styles such as <h2>.
- The id of the <DIV> should remain “altcontent”. This id is specifically referenced in the JavaScript functions.
- We’ve provided an image /media/flash_player_download.jpg with a hyperlink to Adobe’s official Flash Player download website. This link is set to open in a new browser window (target=”_blank”).
- You can modify the CSS styles for the altcontent <DIV>, including the border size, color and the text styles by editing the designated id in the CSS file. See the Instruction Guide .PDF for specific instructions.
- You set the minimum required version in the /scripts/swfreplace.js file. The default minimum required version of the Flash Player used by the Launch Pad is version 8. If you require version 9 or 10 for your projects, adjust this value accordingly. See the section in the Instruction Guide .PDF, “Set Required Version of Flash Plugin” for instructions to change this value.
