What is the standard.htm file included with the Template products?

KCWebPlaza's templates include a customized HTML file – “standard.htm”. The HTML file has several important custom changes:

  • Sets the margins of the web page to allow for more room for your movie to display in a browser window,
  • Contains JavaScript used within the Captivate movie’s Exit button to allow the user to close the browser window while the Captivate movie is playing (without a security message), and
  • Contains JavaScript to allow the Home button to Refresh the page and return to the beginning of the movie.

In order to use this custom HTML file, you’ll need to copy it to your Captivate templates folder.

  1. First, locate you templates folder and rename the existing “standard.htm” file to “standard_OLD.htm”. That way you can switch back to Adobe’s default file if you wish.
  2. Copy the custom “standard.htm” file to your Captivate templates folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Templates\Publish).
  3. Now, whenever you publish Captivate movies, it will contain the custom margins and JavaScript code. You can use the custom standard.htm file for all of your Captivate movies – not just the KCWebPlaza templates (the JavaScript will not affect other Captivate movies).
